Overview

The AP8704S-NA is a six-piece kit of 1.2M (4 ft) locking C13-to-C14 power cords designed for North American rack deployments. Each cord features built-in locking receptacles that physically secure the C13 connector to a C14 outlet — eliminating accidental disconnection under cable congestion or vibration in dense rack environments. Buy the kit when you're powering a row of 1U devices (1U switches, servers, or thin clients) off a single PDU and need a consistent, secured cable run without sourcing individual cords. The black jacket blends with standard rack cable management. Model number AP8704S-NA appears on the kit packaging; individual cords carry the same part family designation.

Compatibility

Designed for use with APC Switched, Metered, and Basic rack PDUs equipped with C14 outlets — including the APC AP7900-series, AP7800-series, AP8800-series, and AP7600-series rack PDUs. The C13 female end is compatible with any IEC 60320 C14 inlet on PDUs, KVM switches, patch panels with power, or 1U rack equipment drawing under 15A at 120V or 250V. The locking mechanism is specific to APC locking-outlet PDUs; on standard (non-locking) C14 outlets the cord seats normally but the locking collar does not engage — functional, but the retention benefit is lost. Not intended for C19/C20 or NEMA 5-15/5-20 applications.

Installation Notes

Insert the C13 end into a compatible APC locking C14 outlet and rotate the locking collar until it seats — no tools required. To release, depress the locking tab before pulling. Cord length is 1.2M (approximately 4 ft); plan rack U positions so this reach is sufficient before ordering — a 1U gap between PDU and device is the typical fit. Kit dimensions are 45W x 70H x 240mm D; the six cords ship coiled in a single retail package.
