Overview
The Potter AE-2 is a compact steel expansion enclosure that adds capacity to Potter access control systems without replacing the main control board. It accepts up to 2 standard stacker-bracket expansion cards—such as credential readers, relay modules, or other compatible PAD100-SLCE and RLY-5 sized boards—making it the go-to solution when you need to extend reader or relay capacity across a multi-door installation. At 9 3/4" wide × 8" tall × 2 1/2" deep, it mounts flush to a wall or cabinet, freeing up space compared to a full secondary control panel. UUKL Listed for smoke control installations, so it clears code requirements in fire-rated environments.
Compatibility
The AE-2 integrates with Potter access control systems that support stacker-bracket expansion cards. Confirm your main control platform (e.g., PAS-series or similar Potter panel) is equipped with an expansion port before ordering. The enclosure accommodates standard stacker-bracket sized cards including PAD100-SLCE credential readers and RLY-5 relay modules. If your system uses proprietary or non-standard card sizes, verify card dimensions against the datasheet before purchase.
Installation Notes
Mount the AE-2 using four #8 screws into the provided mounting holes; one hole remains open for internal access. The first expansion card mounts directly to the back box using #6-32 hex nuts (supplied with the card). A second card stacks on top of the first card using the same hex-nut anchors. Ensure the mounting surface is solid (wood studs, steel framing, or cabinet rail) to support the enclosure weight plus card modules. No separate power supply is required—power and data feed from the main control board via ribbon cable or connector (verify cable routing during installation).
