OM5 wideband multimode supports wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) techniques — specifically shortwave WDM (SWDM) — meaning this cable can carry multiple 25G or 100G lanes over a single fiber pair, extending useful distance beyond what standard OM3/OM4 can handle for emerging high-density switch fabrics. The LSZH jacket keeps halogen emission low in enclosed or plenum-adjacent spaces where smoke toxicity matters during an event.
