Description

Middle Atlantic 5518-WH NM External Elbow Fitting — 5500 Series, White

Overview

The Middle Atlantic 5518-WH is an external elbow fitting designed for the 5500-series non-metallic (NM) raceway system. It solves the common field problem of routing cable around 90-degree outside corners — wall-to-ceiling transitions, column wraps, and perimeter conduit runs — without cutting or improvising a join that leaves the raceway open. Specifying the 5518-WH keeps the cable pathway fully enclosed at every exterior corner, maintaining a clean, professional finish. The white color matches standard drop-ceiling and drywall environments where surface-mounted raceway needs to blend with interior finishes. TAA-compliant, making it suitable for government facilities and federally-funded deployments where country-of-origin sourcing requirements apply. Confirm finish consistency: specify 5518-WH specifically when your raceway run uses the white variant of the 5500 series — mixing white fittings with gray or ivory channel will be visible in finished spaces.

Compatibility

Designed for use with the Middle Atlantic 5500-series non-metallic raceway system. The external elbow fitting mates to the 5500-series channel profile — do not attempt to fit it to the 5400-series or other Middle Atlantic NM raceway families, as fitting profiles differ between series. For inside corners, a separate internal elbow is required; this fitting addresses outside (external) corner transitions only. Verify that the raceway base and cover on your run are also 5500-series white before ordering to ensure a matched installation.

Installation Notes

Mount the external elbow at the corner junction after running the raceway base sections up to each side of the corner. The fitting snaps or fastens to the channel ends per standard NM raceway assembly — no special tooling required beyond what your raceway installation calls for. Ensure both raceway legs meeting at the corner are fully seated before securing the elbow to prevent channel gaps that could expose conductors. This fitting is for surface-mount exterior-corner use only; it is not rated for wet or outdoor environments — install inside conditioned or protected interior spaces consistent with NM-rated products.
