Overview

The Transition Networks M/E-TX-FX-01(SC)-NA is a compact media converter designed to bridge the gap between copper Ethernet and fiber optic cabling. This unit allows you to extend network distances beyond the 100-meter limit of standard Cat5e/Cat6 cable by converting 100BASE-TX signals to 100BASE-FX multimode fiber. It operates at 3.3V, making it suitable for integration into systems with specific power requirements, and features an SC connector for the fiber optic link. This is ideal for extending network connectivity in environments where longer cable runs are necessary, such as large industrial facilities or campus networks, without requiring a full network switch upgrade.

Compatibility

This media converter is designed to interface with standard 100BASE-TX Ethernet ports found on most network switches, IP cameras, and other network devices. The 100BASE-FX multimode fiber output with an SC connector is compatible with other 100BASE-FX multimode fiber network devices and infrastructure that utilize SC connectors and operate within the 2km distance limitation. It is not compatible with single-mode fiber or faster Ethernet standards like Gigabit Ethernet.

Installation Notes

Requires a 3.3V power source, typically provided by a compatible chassis or power adapter (sold separately). Ensure the fiber optic cable is clean and free from damage before connecting to the SC port to maintain signal integrity. The maximum transmission distance over multimode fiber is 2 kilometers (1.24 miles).
