Altronix LINQT2 Network Camera Power & Communication Module
Overview
The Altronix LINQT2 is a compact power and communication module designed to simplify the installation of IP cameras in distributed surveillance systems. It consolidates power delivery and network connectivity for a single camera, reducing wiring complexity and installation time. This unit is particularly effective in scenarios where cameras are deployed at a distance from network switches and power sources, such as large campuses, outdoor perimeters, or multi-building facilities. The LINQT2 integrates SNMP capability for remote monitoring of power and network status, allowing for proactive maintenance and faster troubleshooting. Its small form factor allows for discreet installation, often within or near the camera housing itself.
Compatibility
The LINQT2 is engineered to support a wide range of IP cameras that require standard PoE (802.3af) power. It is compatible with cameras from major manufacturers including Axis Communications (e.g., P32-series domes, M-series bullets), Hanwha Vision (formerly Hanwha Techwin, e.g., X-series domes and bullets), and Hikvision (e.g., EasyIP series domes and bullets), provided they operate within the 13W power budget. It functions as a bridge between a network switch and the camera, requiring an Ethernet connection from the switch and providing both power and an Ethernet port for the camera. It is also designed to work with Altronix power distribution and management systems.
Installation Notes
Installation requires an Ethernet cable run from the network switch to the LINQT2's RJ45 input port. The module then provides a PoE-enabled RJ45 output port for the camera. It accepts 12VDC to 24VDC input power, which it converts to PoE (802.3af) for the connected camera, drawing a maximum of 13W. The unit should be mounted in a protected location, ideally within a junction box or camera enclosure, to shield it from environmental factors. Ensure the input power voltage is within the specified range to prevent damage. The SNMP reporting feature requires configuration on the network management system.
