Description

Lifesafety Power FPO250-B1002C82D8E4 Power Supply Enclosure

Overview

The FPO250-B1002C82D8E4 is a 250W distributed power supply designed to feed 16 independently fused loads from a single enclosure — the workhorse for access control panels, magnetic locks, door strikes, exit devices, and auxiliary surveillance equipment in multi-door or multi-zone installations. The E4 enclosure form factor means it fits standard electrical cabinets without consuming premium rack space.

Power and Output Specifications

Rated for 250W max total power delivery. The supply supports 4A @ 12V and 8A @ 24V outputs — critical because 24V circuits draw half the current of 12V for the same wattage, reducing wire gauge requirements and voltage drop over cable runs. Each of the 16 outputs is independently fused at 3A, so a short or overcurrent on one door lock won't cascade to shut down the entire system. This segmentation is mandatory in life-safety installations where a single point of failure can disable emergency egress.

Compatibility

This supply works with any access control panel, intercom system, or surveillance relay architecture that accepts 12V or 24V distributed power. Typical pairings include access control systems requiring multiple solenoid-lock feeds, outdoor camera PoE injector clusters needing backup 24V rails, and mixed-voltage security environments. Verify your panel's voltage and fusing requirements — mismatch will create nuisance breaker trips or undersized protection.

Installation Notes

Wire to a dedicated 20A circuit breaker at the main panel — don't share with lighting or HVAC loads. Ensure enclosure ventilation (E4 designation allows passive cooling); stack ductwork or thermal management if the cabinet exceeds 95°F ambient. 16 outputs mean 16 separate load wires — organize with numbered labels to prevent post-install debugging. Use 14 AWG or heavier for 24V runs over 50 feet to stay under 3% voltage drop.
