Overview

The Lenovo 4XH7A80466 is a factory-configured rear drive kit that adds two 2.5" NVMe bays to the back of a ThinkSystem SR635 server. This is the V2 revision of the kit, designed for deployments where the front bay count is already committed to primary workload storage and you need additional NVMe capacity without pulling drives from an active configuration. At 2 lb, the kit installs into the server's rear drive cage positions — keeping NVMe expansion internal and out of the cabling mess of external enclosures.

Compatibility

This kit is designed specifically for the Lenovo ThinkSystem SR635 server platform. The SR635 is a 1U AMD EPYC-based rack server; this kit targets that chassis's rear drive bay expansion positions. Confirm your SR635 chassis revision and existing rear bay configuration against Lenovo's SR635 option compatibility matrix before ordering — not all SR635 configurations ship with the rear cage mounting points pre-installed. This kit does not apply to SR630, SR650, or other ThinkSystem rack server families.

Installation Notes

Installation requires access to the rear drive cage area of the SR635 chassis. Verify that no conflicting rear I/O options (certain PCIe riser configurations or rear GPU kits) occupy the target bay positions. NVMe drives are sold separately — this kit provides the mechanical bay, backplane, and cabling infrastructure only.
