The Lenovo 4XH7A61049 is a PCIe Gen 4 x16/x16 Riser 3 Kit designed for the ThinkSystem SR650 V2 rack server. It adds two full-bandwidth PCIe Gen 4 x16 slots via a dedicated riser assembly, enabling high-throughput expansion cards — such as dual-port GPU accelerators, high-speed HBAs, or 100GbE NICs — to run at full Gen 4 bandwidth without contention. In dense compute deployments where I/O throughput directly affects workload latency, running expansion cards at half-width or reduced bandwidth is a real performance penalty; this riser eliminates that constraint for the third expansion zone of the SR650 V2 chassis.
Designed exclusively for the Lenovo ThinkSystem SR650 V2 rack server platform. The SR650 V2 supports multiple riser configurations depending on processor and chassis revision; Riser 3 occupies the rear expansion zone and requires the SR650 V2 chassis to be configured for three-riser operation. Verify your SR650 V2 chassis revision and existing riser population before ordering — Riser 1, Riser 2, and Riser 3 are distinct assemblies and are not interchangeable. This kit is not compatible with the original SR650 (non-V2) or any other ThinkSystem model. Consult the server expansion card configuration guide for your SR650 V2 to confirm the Riser 3 slot is available in your current chassis build.
Installation follows Lenovo's tool-based server maintenance procedure for the SR650 V2. The riser assembly weighs 2.65 lb and measures 13.60 x 9.00 x 6.40 in — account for clearance within the chassis before seating. PCIe Gen 4 risers are sensitive to proper seating; partial insertion will prevent signal negotiation at Gen 4 speeds and may cause the system to fall back to Gen 3 or fail to enumerate the slot entirely. Follow the SR650 V2 Hardware Maintenance Guide for correct torque and retention clip engagement. No external power connection is required beyond the riser's native chassis backplane interface.
