Description

Lenovo 4XC7A96734 ThinkSystem 10GBASE-T 4-Port OCP Ethernet Adapter

Overview

The Lenovo 4XC7A96734 is a ThinkSystem OCP form-factor network adapter built around the Intel E610-T4 controller, delivering four 10GBASE-T ports over standard Cat6A copper cabling. This is a slot-efficient choice for ThinkSystem servers where PCIe expansion slots are at a premium — the OCP 3.0 mezzanine footprint keeps those slots free for storage or GPU cards while still providing four independent 10GbE uplinks. The generic firmware designation means this adapter ships with baseline Intel firmware rather than a Lenovo-customized stack, which matters for environments that manage NIC firmware independently or require compatibility with non-Lenovo management toolchains.

Compatibility

Designed for Lenovo ThinkSystem servers with an OCP 3.0 mezzanine slot. Compatible server families include the ThinkSystem SR630 V2, SR650 V2, SR670 V2, ST650 V2, and other second-generation ThinkSystem platforms that expose an OCP 3.0 x16 slot. Verify OCP slot availability and lane width in the server's option compatibility matrix before ordering — not all ThinkSystem chassis configurations populate the OCP slot, and some entry configurations use OCP 2.0 (SFF-8402), which is physically incompatible with OCP 3.0 cards. The 10GBASE-T interface requires Cat6A cabling to reach rated 10Gbps speeds at distances up to 100m; Cat6 is usable but limits reliable 10G operation to shorter runs.

Installation Notes

The OCP mezzanine connector seats directly into the system board — no separate power connector or bracket installation is required. Generic firmware (Fw) variants do not receive Lenovo XClarity firmware update packages, so plan to obtain Intel NVM update utilities directly for any firmware lifecycle management. Confirm BIOS/UEFI version compatibility with Lenovo's option compatibility guide for the specific server model prior to deployment.
