Description

Lenovo 4M27A11831 SR860 V2 Intrusion Switch Cable Kit

Overview

The Lenovo 4M27A11831 is a factory-replacement intrusion switch cable kit designed for ThinkSystem SR860 V2 rack servers. The intrusion switch detects unauthorized chassis access by signaling the server's management controller when the cover is removed — a hardware-level tamper alert that feeds directly into out-of-band monitoring without depending on the OS. If your SR860 V2 has a damaged, missing, or non-functional intrusion cable, this kit restores that detection path so chassis-open events are logged and alertable again.

Compatibility

Designed for the Lenovo ThinkSystem SR860 V2 (7Z59 series) 4-socket rack server platform. Verify your machine type against the SR860 V2 parts documentation before ordering — the SR860 V1 and other ThinkSystem 2-socket platforms (SR650, SR850) use different intrusion switch assemblies and are not interchangeable with 4M27A11831.

Installation Notes

Replacement requires powering down and depowering the server before opening the chassis. The intrusion switch cable routes from the system board connector to the chassis intrusion detection point — consult the SR860 V2 Hardware Maintenance Guide for exact routing and connector seating procedure. No special tooling is specified in available evidence beyond standard server maintenance practice (ESD precautions, Phillips-head screwdriver for chassis access). After reinstallation, validate the intrusion switch is recognized in XClarity Controller (XCC) by briefly triggering a chassis-open event and confirming the alert appears in the event log.
