When expanding or replacing internal drive connections on the SR250, this kit provides the correct X40 cable harness to maintain signal integrity between the backplane and the system board — eliminating the guesswork of sourcing third-party cables that may not seat correctly or pass drive enumeration reliably. Use the 4M17A80602 during initial build-out or as a service replacement when the original cable assembly shows damage or wear.

Compatibility

Designed specifically for the Lenovo ThinkSystem SR250 (7Y51, 7Y52) rack server equipped with the 3.5-inch 4-bay hot-swap or simple-swap drive backplane configuration. Supports both SATA and SAS drive interfaces, making it compatible with standard SATA HDDs and SSDs as well as SAS HDDs in the SR250 drive bays. This kit is not interchangeable with SR250 8-bay or 2.5-inch small-form-factor backplane configurations — verify your exact backplane model before ordering. It is not designed for other ThinkSystem series such as SR630 or SR650.

Installation Notes

Installation requires removing the SR250 top cover and accessing the internal drive cage. The X40 cable connectors are keyed — confirm the backplane-side and system-board-side connectors are fully seated and latched before powering on, as a partially inserted cable can cause drives to fail enumeration or generate false backplane fault alerts.
