Description

APC by Schneider Electric AP5257 KVM Cable — 15-Pin HD-15, 12 ft

Overview

The AP5257 is a 12-foot KVM cable designed to connect servers or workstations to APC by Schneider Electric KVM switches. The cable provides the keyboard, video, and mouse signal path required to bring a server under centralized KVM control — useful in rack environments where the switch and target server are separated by a full rack height or more. At 0.25 lbs and 12 ft in length, the AP5257 suits standard 42U rack deployments without excess slack. The cable terminates in 15-pin HD D-sub (HD-15) connectors and carries three connection paths (keyboard, video, mouse) over a single managed cable run, reducing the number of individual cables routed behind the rack.

Compatibility

This cable is designed for use with APC KVM switches that require HD-15 interface cabling. Verify your KVM switch model's required cable type before ordering — APC KVM product lines use different cable form factors depending on the series. The HD-15 interface is a standard VGA-pinout connector, but the keyboard and mouse signaling is specific to APC's KVM protocol; this cable is not a generic VGA cable and should not be substituted as one. Refer to your APC KVM switch documentation to confirm AP5257 is the correct KVM cable accessory for your unit.

Installation Notes

Route the cable with attention to bend radius near the connectors — excessive strain at the HD-15 terminations can degrade video signal quality over time. At 12 ft, plan cable management before installation: use hook-and-loop ties rather than rigid cable clamps to allow repositioning without stressing the jacket. The 0.25 lb weight means no additional cable support hardware is required for standard vertical rack runs.
