i-PRO PLAMP2808A Varifocal Auto Iris Lens
Overview
The i-PRO PLAMP2808A is a 2.8–8mm varifocal lens engineered by Tamron for i-PRO surveillance cameras with 1/2.7" sensors. The F1.2 aperture and auto DC iris mechanism handle two problems at once: adapting focal length to variable scene distances (wide 2.8mm to moderate zoom 8mm) and automatically adjusting light intake as illumination shifts between daylight and indoor artificial lighting. This eliminates the need to swap lenses or manually adjust iris stops when coverage area or lighting conditions change. Suitable for retail floors, office corridors, warehouse aisles, and mixed indoor-to-transitional environments where flexible framing and consistent exposure matter.
Compatibility
Designed exclusively for i-PRO cameras equipped with 1/2.7" sensors and C-mount or equivalent lens threads. Before purchase, confirm your camera body's sensor size and lens mount specification in the product documentation or contact your integrator — the PLAMP2808A will not mount on 1/3" sensor cameras or fixed-lens camera bodies. The auto DC iris requires a compatible lens control interface (typically 4-pin or 5-pin connector) on the camera; verify pinout compatibility with your specific i-PRO model to ensure the iris drive signal routes correctly.
Installation Notes
Mount the lens by hand-threading it onto the camera's lens mount; use a lens wrench if needed but avoid over-torquing, which can strip the mount or damage internal threads. Wire the auto DC iris connector to the camera's lens control pins, checking pinout alignment with your camera's documentation before final connection. Install in dry or covered indoor environments — the lens barrel and iris mechanism lack weatherproof sealing and require a protective hood or enclosure if exposed to direct rain or sustained moisture. After mounting and focusing, lock the focal length to prevent drift during operation. No power supply is required beyond the camera's existing power — the iris control signal is delivered through the camera's lens interface.
