Description

HPE P48804-B21 DL380 Gen11 2U Dual x16 Tertiary Riser Kit

Overview

The HPE P48804-B21 is a tertiary riser kit that provides two additional x16 PCIe expansion slots in a DL380 Gen11 2U chassis. If your Gen11 deployment requires a third riser position — for high-density GPU, NIC, HBA, or accelerator cards beyond what the primary and secondary risers already fill — this kit unlocks that capacity without a chassis swap. Specify the P48804-B21 during system configuration or add it post-delivery when expansion demands outpace the original bill of materials.

Compatibility

Designed specifically for the HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen11 2U rack server. This kit fits the tertiary riser position of the DL380 Gen11 chassis only — it is not interchangeable with Gen10, Gen10 Plus, or any other ProLiant family. Before ordering, confirm your DL380 Gen11 chassis supports a tertiary riser bay; not all DL380 Gen11 configurations include this slot as standard. Pair with compatible network expansion cards or storage HBAs sized to x16 PCIe to take full advantage of both slots. Review the HPE QuickSpecs for the DL380 Gen11 to verify slot availability alongside your primary and secondary server riser and expansion accessories.

Installation Notes

The kit ships ready to install into the tertiary riser bay of a DL380 Gen11 chassis. Installation requires powering down the server and following HPE's standard riser installation procedure for the DL380 Gen11 — consult the server's Maintenance and Service Guide for torque specs and ESD handling requirements. At 1.39 lb, the riser is light enough for a single-person installation. Confirm your target DL380 Gen11 chassis has an unoccupied tertiary riser position before proceeding; retrofitting into a fully populated system may require temporarily removing adjacent components.
