Overview
The HPE J8177E is a 1 Gigabit Ethernet SFP (Small Form-Factor Pluggable) transceiver designed to provide an RJ45 copper interface for network switches and routers. This module allows you to connect standard Ethernet devices over Category 5e cabling, extending network reach up to 100 meters. It's a critical component for bridging the gap between network infrastructure and end devices in environments where direct fiber or shorter copper runs are not feasible.
Compatibility
This transceiver is compatible with any network device featuring an SFP port that supports 1000BASE-T standards. It is designed for use with HPE Aruba networking equipment and other switches or routers that adhere to the SFP Multi-Source Agreement (MSA). Ensure your network device's SFP port is open and supports 1Gbps RJ45 modules for full functionality.
Installation Notes
Install the J8177E transceiver into an available SFP slot on your network switch or router. Ensure the module is fully seated and locked into place. Connect a standard Cat5e or higher Ethernet cable (up to 100 meters) to the RJ45 port on the transceiver and then to your end device. The transceiver draws minimal power from the host device's SFP port and requires no separate power supply.
