The Honeywell 5800PIR is a wireless passive infrared motion detector designed for perimeter and interior protection in alarm system installations. It transmits detection events over 345 MHz to compatible Honeywell 5800-series control panels, eliminating the need for hardwired sensor loops. The 35 ft × 40 ft coverage area suits standard residential and light commercial rooms — living spaces, hallways, storage areas — where you need motion detection without running additional wiring.
Compatibility
The 5800PIR integrates with all Honeywell 5800-series compatible control panels. This includes legacy and current Honeywell alarm panels that support 345 MHz wireless sensors. Confirm your control panel's wireless receiver supports the 5800 frequency band before deployment. The detector operates on a 3V lithium battery rated for up to 5 years, reducing maintenance visits compared to wired sensors.
Installation Notes
Mount the detector at 7 ft to 9 ft height for optimal coverage pattern. Operating temperature range is 14°F to 131°F (−10°C to 55°C) — suitable for conditioned interior spaces; not rated for outdoor or unheated enclosures. Pet immunity is selectable and effective up to 80 lbs, useful in households with dogs or cats that might otherwise trigger false alarms.
