Overview

The 5800PIR-OD2 is a wireless passive infrared motion detector built for outdoor perimeter and yard coverage in residential and commercial security systems. Passive infrared detection triggers on body-heat movement across a 35 ft × 40 ft detection field, making it suited for monitoring loading docks, exterior doors, and property boundaries where you need motion sensing without running hardwired circuits. Wireless 345 MHz transmission eliminates conduit runs and splice boxes — the detector pairs directly to any Honeywell 5800-series compatible control panel.

Compatibility

The 5800PIR-OD2 works with all Honeywell 5800-series compatible panels — including VISTA control panels and their wireless receiver modules. Verify your specific panel model accepts 345 MHz 5800-series sensors before ordering; older non-wireless or 433 MHz systems require a different sensor variant.

Installation Notes

Mount the detector at 7 ft to 9 ft height for optimal coverage geometry. Pet immunity (selectable, up to 80 lbs) narrows the vertical field of view to ignore household or yard animals while preserving perimeter detection — if your region has deer, raccoons, or larger wildlife, test the pet-immune setting before final commissioning to confirm it does not false-trigger on actual site conditions. Operating temperature range is 14°F to 131°F (–10°C to 55°C) — suitable for most climates but not for uninsulated freezers or direct solar mounting in extreme heat without shade. The 3V lithium battery lasts up to 5 years under normal motion-trigger load; battery depletion triggers a supervision alert on the control panel. No hardwired power required.
