Honeywell 4232CBM VISTA Automation Module
Overview
The 4232CBM is a control panel accessory that bridges VISTA® security systems to external automation hardware and software. It mounts directly inside the panel cabinet and provides dual serial interfaces—three-wire RS232 (up to 50 feet) and four-wire RS422 (up to 1,000 feet)—plus a standard four-wire ECP connection back to the panel. Use this when you need the security system to communicate with third-party building automation, home control systems, or custom integrations without tearing apart your cabinet layout.
Compatibility
Works with VISTA-21iP and VISTA-21iPSIA (firmware 3.13 or higher), VISTA-128BPT (all firmware levels), VISTA-250BPT (revision 10.3 or higher), VISTA-32FBPT, VISTA-128FBPT, and VISTA-250FBPT (all firmware levels). Also compatible with First Alert Professional equivalents: VISTA-15P, VISTA-15PSIA, VISTA-20P, and VISTA-20PSIA (firmware 9.1 or higher). The ECP home run is limited to 900 feet maximum on the supported panels.
Installation Notes
Mounts using included double-sided tape directly to the inside of the control panel cabinet—no drilling or fasteners required. RS232 connections use 24 AWG twisted pair wire and max out at 50 feet; RS422 can reach 1,000 feet with the same wire gauge. The module draws 50mA nominal (75mA maximum) from the panel's ECP bus at 8–12V. Operating temperature range is 32°F to 140°F (0°C to 60°C). Driver software is required and must be obtained separately from the third-party vendor you are integrating with. The package includes RS422 termination resistors (not required for all applications—check your integration specs). Four status LEDs on the module aid troubleshooting during commissioning.
