GRI 410-W 4" Commercial/Industrial Surface Mount Contact

Overview

The GRI 410-W is a 4-inch surface mount magnetic contact designed for door position monitoring in commercial and industrial access control deployments. Standard terminals on the side of the contact simplify wiring in retrofit and new construction scenarios where recessed mounting is impractical. The 410-W handles a standard 1.5-inch gap between door and frame, covering typical steel door and frame conditions found in office buildings, warehouses, and institutional facilities. UL 10C fire rating and lifetime warranty against workmanship and material defects make this a durable perimeter monitoring component for door strike and position sensing integration.

Compatibility

The 410-W integrates with access control systems requiring surface-mounted door contacts for position monitoring and strike validation. It is compatible with standard 12VDC access control architectures and wired alarm integration where door-open-circuit or door-closed-circuit signaling is required. The contact works with door frames and steel doors up to 1.5 inches away from the mounting surface. If your installation requires wider gaps (up to 3.25 inches), GRI manufactures wide-gap variants of this series. The unit accepts built-in end-of-line (EOL) resistors and diodes upon request for supervised circuit applications.

Installation Notes

Covers and mounting hardware are included with the switch set. The contact measures 3.9 inches long and 3.5 inches tall, sized for standard door frame geometry. Standard gap contacts accommodate frame-to-door spacing up to 1.5 inches; verify your actual gap before ordering to avoid compatibility issues. Mounting hardware and spacers support both new construction rough-in and retrofit surface installation. Terminals are accessible on the side of the unit for straightforward wire connection in crowded electrical boxes or retrofit scenarios where rear access is limited.
