Geovision GV-UHF UHF RFID Tag
Overview
The Geovision GV-UHF is a UHF RFID tag designed for vehicle identification in access control deployments — specifically parking management, gated communities, and employee parking scenarios. The tag operates at 902–928 MHz (US) or 865–868 MHz (EU), supports a 10-meter read range, and pairs with the Geovision GV-RU9003 long-range reader to enable credential-free vehicle recognition without driver interaction.
Compatibility
The GV-UHF tag integrates with Geovision access control systems via the GV-RU9003 reader, which outputs Wiegand (64-bit) format — a standard credential protocol used across most access control platforms and panel integrations. The tag is designed for integration with Geovision NVR/DVR platforms and Geovision management software systems that support Wiegand input.
Installation Notes
Placement is critical to read range. Mount the tag on the vehicle front windshield or headlight, positioned away from metallic surfaces or conductive films that degrade RF propagation. If the windshield contains metallic insulation film or mirrored coatings, install the tag on the headlight instead. The reader should be mounted 1.8–2.2 meters (5.9–7.2 feet) high and positioned so the antenna faces the tag at a 15–20° angle for optimal read range of 1.8–2.2 meters in practical conditions. Full 10-meter range requires clear line-of-sight with tag and reader antennas aligned horizontally and parallel. The tag itself is 228 × 228 × 52.3 mm and rated IP56, so it withstands direct rain and dust — suitable for outdoor windshield mounting. Operating temperature range is −20°C to 55°C (−4°F to 130°F), covering most climates. The reader requires 12V power at <1A via the GV-RU9003 unit.
