Overview
The Geovision GV-POSTS is a 2-port POS text inserter dongle that bridges point-of-sale systems with Geovision surveillance infrastructure. It overlays transaction metadata directly onto recorded video, creating a synchronized audit trail of cash transactions and video evidence. The 2-port configuration handles dual POS terminals or parallel data streams, making it suitable for multi-checkout retail environments, hospitality counters, and any location where transaction timing must correlate with recorded footage.
Compatibility
The GV-POSTS integrates with Geovision surveillance platforms running Geovision VMS (up to 64 channels) or Geovision NVR systems that support POS data injection. It works with standard retail POS terminals via network connectivity. Deployment requires Geovision management software configuration to map POS data streams to specific camera channels. Third-party ONVIF cameras compatible with Geovision VMS can receive the overlaid POS text, but the dongle itself is hardware-specific to Geovision ecosystems.
Installation Notes
Install the GV-POSTS on the same network segment as your Geovision VMS server and POS terminals. Connect each POS terminal to one of the two dongle ports via standard network connectivity. Configure text overlay parameters (font size, display duration, position) within the Geovision VMS interface. No special tools or torque specifications are required; standard network installation practices apply. Ensure your VMS server has adequate processing overhead for real-time text rendering — GPU-accelerated H.265 and H.264 decoding in the VMS helps reduce CPU load when handling multiple overlaid streams simultaneously.
