The ATEN VE8900T is the transmitter unit in the VE8900/VE8950 HDMI over IP extension system, designed to send uncompressed Full HD video from a source device across a standard Cat 5e or Cat 6 network — reaching up to 100m in a point-to-point run without a dedicated video cable pull. The VE8900T accepts a single HDMI input (Type A Female) and passes the signal to a paired VE8900R receiver over a single Ethernet cable, making it a practical fit for digital signage deployments, AV distribution in conference rooms, and video wall installations where source equipment sits at a distance from the display. USB passthrough via the Type B Female port supports keyboard and mouse control from the receiver end, extending device interaction without a separate USB extender. A 3.5mm stereo mini jack handles analog audio input when the HDMI audio path is insufficient for the application.
The VE8900T is designed to pair with the ATEN VE8900R receiver and is part of the broader HDMI over IP extender product family. It is compatible with HDMI sources delivering resolutions up to 1080p — including standard and non-standard timings such as 720(1440)x240p at rates up to 240Hz. The system supports daisy-chaining and matrix configurations when deployed through a managed network switch, enabling one-to-many or many-to-many distribution scenarios typical of AV over IP distribution installations. For larger matrix deployments, refer to the VE89 Implementation Guide (v1.5.145 firmware, released 2026-02-10) for VLAN and switch configuration requirements. The ID Number Selection push buttons on the unit are used to assign transmitter IDs in multi-unit environments — essential for matrix addressing.
Maximum cable run is 100m over Cat 5e or Cat 6 in a point-to-point topology. Power is supplied via a locking DC jack — confirm the power adapter is secured with the locking connector before deployment to prevent accidental disconnect. Operating humidity is rated 0–80% RH non-condensing; avoid installations in unconditioned spaces subject to condensation. Unit dimensions with bracket: 14.02 × 12.30 × 3.06 cm (5.52 × 4.84 × 1.2 in.); without bracket: 13.60 × 10.10 × 2.96 cm (5.35 × 3.98 × 1.17 in.). Weight is 0.50 kg (1.1 lb). For firmware updates, the current release is v1.5.145 (2026-02-10). Consult the network switch requirements in the VE89 Implementation Guide before deploying in a managed matrix environment.
