Description

Middle Atlantic FWD-SB3 3U Forward Flanged Blank Rack Panel

Overview

The Middle Atlantic FWD-SB3 is a 3U flanged blank rack panel engineered to fill unused rack space in 19-inch equipment enclosures. At 5.25 inches tall and finished in a textured black powder coat, it slots cleanly into any standard rack bay — closing off open slots that would otherwise disrupt airflow management, introduce cable snagging hazards, or leave internal rack components exposed in access-controlled equipment rooms.

Blank panels are unglamorous but operationally important. An unsealed rack bay creates a bypass path that pulls unconditioned room air through the chassis instead of through the intended airflow path, which degrades cooling performance for active equipment above and below the gap. The FWD-SB3 (often searched as FWD SB3) closes that gap with a rigid, mount-ready panel that installs in seconds and stays put.

Key Features

  • 3 Rack Units (5.25 in / 13.3 cm tall): Covers three unused rack slots in a single install — useful when decommissioning a 2U switch or 3U patch panel, so you don't need to stack multiple 1U fillers and introduce alignment gaps between them.
  • Standard 19-Inch Panel Width (48.3 cm): Fits any EIA-310-compliant 19-inch rack without modification — compatible with open-frame racks, enclosed cabinets, and wall-mount enclosures from Middle Atlantic and other manufacturers.
  • Textured Black Powder Coat Finish: The matte texture resists fingerprints and minor surface scratches better than gloss finishes, which matters in equipment rooms where panels get handled during installs and audits. The finish also matches the standard aesthetic of Middle Atlantic rack enclosures.
