The AT-SPFX/2-90 is a Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP) transceiver for 100BASE-FX Fast Ethernet over multimode fiber (MMF) with an LC duplex connector interface and a 2km reach. It slots into any SFP-capable Allied Telesis switch or media converter port, converting electrical Ethernet to 1310nm optical signal — useful wherever copper falls short of distance or where fiber already runs between IDF and MDF closets, between buildings, or across longer in-building runs that exceed copper's 100m ceiling. The AT-SPFX/2-90 operates at 100 Mbps full duplex, which is appropriate for legacy Fast Ethernet infrastructure or bandwidth-modest applications such as access control panels, IP intercoms, and low-channel IP camera feeds that do not require Gigabit throughput.
Designed for Allied Telesis SFP-slot-equipped platforms including the AT-8000S series managed switches, AT-9000 series, AT-x210 and AT-x310 series switches, and Allied Telesis media converters with SFP bays (such as the AT-MC1008/SP series). The SFP form factor follows the SFP MSA standard, but Allied Telesis switches may enforce vendor authentication — confirm your specific switch model accepts third-party or verify the AT-SPFX/2-90 is listed in your platform's compatible transceiver matrix before ordering. On the fiber plant side, this transceiver requires OM1 or OM2 50/125µm or 62.5/125µm multimode fiber terminated with LC connectors at both ends; 2km is the rated maximum reach under standard link budget conditions.
Insert the SFP module into the host slot with the locking tab oriented correctly — the bail latch must click fully seated before connecting the LC fiber jumper. Clean LC ferrules with an appropriate fiber optic cleaning tool before mating; contaminated endfaces are the leading cause of degraded link budget on short MMF runs. The 2km distance assumes clean fiber and low connector loss; actual reach may be shorter on high-loss or heavily-spliced plant. Do not exceed the rated fiber distance — multimode 100FX does not support error-free operation beyond 2km. Hot-plugging is supported on compliant host platforms.
