Overview
The ATEN US4224 is a 2-computer, 4-port USB 2.0 sharing switch designed for environments where multiple users need to access a shared set of USB peripherals. It allows two computers to easily share up to four USB 2.0 devices, such as printers, scanners, or external drives. The pushbutton port selection mechanism provides a straightforward method for switching control between connected PCs, streamlining workflows in shared workstation setups or KVM-adjacent applications.
Compatibility
This switch is designed to connect to and share peripherals with two computers. It supports standard USB 2.0 devices and is compatible with any operating system that supports USB 2.0 peripherals. The included USB cables are Type-A to Type-A, suitable for connecting the switch to standard USB ports on most desktop or laptop computers.
Installation Notes
The US4224 features a rack-mountable design for integration into standard 19-inch server racks, though it can also be used on a desktop. It supports optional power via a USB Type-C port if the connected USB devices draw significant power or if the host computers cannot supply sufficient power through their USB ports. Two orange LEDs indicate power status for each connected computer. The operating environment requires 10-80% RH, non-condensing humidity.
