ELK Products ELK-SWG Structured Wiring Grid
Overview
The ELK-SWG is a structured wiring control grid for commercial swing gate operators, engineered as the interface between gate motors and access control systems. It integrates a 24VDC solid-state control board with an integral APeX controller, managing motor sequencing, limit detection, and entrapment protection for gates up to 26 feet wide and 1000 pounds. This is the control backbone for UL325 and UL991 compliant gate installations where you need reliable, diagnostically transparent motor management across 1/2, 3/4, or 1 HP motor configurations.
Compatibility
The ELK-SWG control module works with ELK Products swing gate operator models (SWG-2, SWG-4, SWG-1) configured for single-phase 115/230 VAC or three-phase 208/230/460 VAC motors. The 24VDC output powers access control integration, on-board 3-button station wiring, and external stop/reset stations via shielded cable. Built-in MegaCode dual-frequency receiver support enables wireless auxiliary control. Entrapment sensing and cam-operated limit switches integrate directly into the control grid without external relays or intermediaries.
Installation Notes
The control board mounts in a galvannealed steel, powder-coated, weather-resistant cabinet with gasketed, lockable hinged cover—standard for post-mount installations; pad-mount brackets available. Wiring terminates on the 24VDC module using shielded cable to the on-board 3-button convenience station and external accessories. Diagnostic LED display provides setup and troubleshooting feedback during commissioning. Adjustable torque limiter allows precise motor stall protection tuning. All input voltages (single or three-phase) are field-selectable; thermally protected motors prevent thermal overload on sustained duty cycles. Typical gate opening time is 15 seconds for stated weight ratings.
