ELK Products ELK-M1XSLU Lutron Radiora2 Serial Interface
Overview
The ELK-M1XSLU is a serial gateway that integrates Lutron Radiora2 lighting control systems with ELK M1 security panels. It translates commands between the M1's control protocols and Radiora2's serial interface, enabling unified automation of security zones and lighting scenes from a single control platform. This module solves the interoperability problem when deploying integrated security and lighting in mid-to-large commercial or residential installations where both systems exist independently.
Compatibility
The ELK-M1XSLU connects to ELK M1 control panels (M1G2, M1, and compatible variants) via the M1's RS-232 serial port. It interfaces with Lutron Radiora2 systems using the Radiora2 serial protocol. Confirm your Radiora2 system supports serial gateway integration before installation—not all Radiora2 configurations expose the necessary protocol interface.
Installation Notes
The module requires a direct RS-232 connection from the M1 panel's serial port to the interface, then a secondary serial link to the Radiora2 gateway or main repeater. Cable runs should remain under 50 feet for reliable signal integrity; use shielded RS-232 cable to minimize noise in electrically dense environments. Verify port availability on both the M1 and Radiora2 system before installation—serial ports may be occupied by other integrations. Configuration requires access to the M1's programming interface and Radiora2 integration credentials; coordination with your lighting vendor or integrator is recommended to establish scene mappings and control logic.
