Overview

The Black Box SSKX0008294-2A is a dual-monitor KVM extender kit designed to transmit keyboard, video, and mouse signals over a single Cat5e or Cat6 cable. This setup is critical for control rooms, security operations centers, and industrial automation environments where operators need to manage systems from a remote, secure location while maintaining full visual fidelity across two displays. The kit includes both the transmitter and receiver units, enabling a point-to-point extension up to 100 meters (328 ft).

Compatibility

This extender kit is designed for direct point-to-point connections. It supports standard USB HID (Human Interface Device) for keyboards and mice, making it compatible with virtually any PC or server running Windows, Linux, or macOS. The video inputs are standard DisplayPort, requiring the source device to have dual DisplayPort outputs. The receiver unit provides dual DisplayPort outputs for the remote console. It is not designed for network-based KVM switching or integration with existing IP infrastructure.

Installation Notes

For optimal performance and signal integrity, use a solid-core Cat5e or Cat6 UTP cable. Avoid using stranded or shielded cables, as they can degrade signal quality over distance. Ensure the cable run does not exceed 100 meters. The transmitter and receiver units require external power adapters (included) and should be placed in well-ventilated areas to prevent overheating. The kit includes a 6-foot cable for the local connection.
