Overview

The VE-GNP-2 is a dual-height gooseneck pedestal from Viking Electronics' Viking Electronics accessory line, purpose-built for drive-up communication stations. It ships with two finished-height options — 40 inches and 70 inches — so a single SKU covers both standard vehicle window height and taller truck or van installs without ordering separate pedestals. This is the right hardware when you need a freestanding, weather-resistant mount for a Viking intercom or entry system at a drive-through lane, parking gate, or exterior kiosk position.

Compatibility

The VE-GNP-2 is designed for use with Viking VE-series backboxes: the VE-5×5, VE-6×7, and VE-5×10. These backboxes provide the surface-mount enclosure that attaches to the pedestal head. If you are working with the single-height variant, see the VE-GNP (42-inch finished height) or the VE-GNP-IG for in-ground wet-cement installs — the VE-GNP-2 is a surface-mount pedestal only and is not rated for in-ground deployment. Note from the manufacturer: the VE-3 enclosure is not compatible with this pedestal.

Installation Notes

The pedestal surface-mount base requires a solid substrate — concrete pad, asphalt, or structural slab — capable of supporting the assembly and resisting lateral force from vehicle proximity. The panel kit is fabricated from 0.081-inch (12-gauge) aluminum with a UV-stable clear gloss powder coat finish, so it holds up to prolonged sun and weather exposure without fading or corrosion. The surface mount box is 0.062-inch (16-gauge) cold-rolled steel with a UV-stable black fine-texture powder coat. Plan conduit routing before setting the base — wire access runs through the pedestal column.
