DSC PG9922 PowerG Wireless Acoustic Glass Break Detector
Overview
The DSC PG9922 is a wireless acoustic glass break detector on the PowerG 915 MHz FHSS platform with 128-bit AES encryption. It provides a 7.6 m (25 ft) radius detection range and recognizes breaking plate, tempered, laminated, wired, and coated glass types. Minimum glass size for detection is 305 x 305 mm (12 x 12 in). The unit mounts on a wall or ceiling.
Deployment scenarios
The PG9922 covers rooms with multiple windows or glass doors where individual contacts on every pane would be cost-prohibitive. It is commonly deployed in ground-floor residential rooms, retail storefronts with glass facades, and commercial spaces with glass partition walls. A single detector can protect an entire room.
Detection specifications
Acoustic detection covers plate, tempered, laminated, wired, and coated glass. Coverage radius is 7.6 m (25 ft). Operating temperature is -10 C to 55 C (14 F to 131 F). Storage temperature is 20 C to 60 C (-4 F to 140 F). Dimensions are 108 mm diameter x 39 mm (4.25 x 1.54 in).
Communication and power
PowerG 915 MHz FHSS with 128-bit AES encryption. Wireless range up to 2 km (6,500 ft) open air. Front and rear tamper protection. Periodic supervisory check-in signals. Powered by two CR123A lithium batteries with up to 5 years of life.

The PG9922 brings PowerG reliability to glass break detection. I specify it for PowerG-based systems where wireless range and encryption are priorities. The 25 ft radius covers most residential rooms comfortably.
Technical Highlights:
- Multi-glass detection: Recognizes plate, tempered, laminated, wired, and coated glass for broad application coverage
- PowerG wireless: FHSS protocol with AES encryption provides secure communication with extended 2 km open-air range
Deployment Considerations:
- Test with a glass break simulator after installation since room acoustics, curtains, and carpeting affect detection performance
- Place the detector where it has a clear acoustic path to the glass surfaces without large furniture or partitions blocking the sound path
For installations already using the Honeywell 5800-series platform, the 5853 provides equivalent glass break detection on the 345 MHz protocol. Choose the PG9922 when the system is built on DSC PowerG.
