Comelit EX-DSME Mechanical Doorbell Camera Replacement
Overview
The Comelit EX-DSME is a replacement external unit for mechanical doorbell systems, designed to retrofit or upgrade existing Comelit video intercom installations. This accessory combines a colour HD video camera with mechanical push buttons featuring Comelit's proprietary Sensitive Touch technology — solving the problem of worn or unresponsive button panels in deployed systems. Surface-mounted die-cast aluminium enclosure, IK08-rated for moderate impact resistance. Includes 4 programmable button positions, nameplate holder, status LEDs (call sent, door open, audio active, system busy), and white LED lighting. 2-wire connection compatible with legacy Comelit platforms.
Compatibility
The EX-DSME works exclusively with Comelit's HFX series mechanical video intercoms: HFX-7000M, HFX-7000MW, HFX-8000M, and HFX-9000M systems only. Do not attempt to install on other Comelit families or third-party brands. Expandable up to 4 panels per system using Comelit expansion code EX-DSQE (additional panels purchased separately).
Installation Notes
Surface mounting only — requires flush or semi-recessed wall preparation depending on site geometry. 2-wire connection to existing system controller; no additional power supply required if original wiring is intact. IK08 rating means resistance to 5-joule impacts (equivalent to a 1.56kg steel ball dropped from 40cm) — suitable for high-traffic commercial entries but not extreme vandalism environments. Verify existing wiring gauge and integrity before installation, particularly in older installations where corrosion may reduce conductivity.
