Overview
The SO-24-AK is a purpose-built adapter kit that enables the Viking SO-24A Service Observation Unit to operate with digital phone systems. Without this kit, the SO-24A is limited to analog station monitoring — the SO-24-AK bridges that gap, making digital phone compatibility possible on existing and new SO-24A deployments. The kit centers on a custom split cord: one male plug and two female plugs on a 25-foot run, giving installers enough reach to wire the adapter into a phone system cross-connect or KSU without relocating the SO-24A chassis.
Compatibility
Designed exclusively for the Viking SO-24A Service Observation Unit. The SO-24A supports up to 24 stations natively, expandable to 240 stations — the SO-24-AK applies to any configuration within that range. Verify digital phone type compatibility with the SO-24A manual before ordering; the adapter addresses the SO-24A's digital phone configuration requirement, not individual phone model handshaking.
Installation Notes
The split cord is 25 feet (7.6m) fixed length and is not field-extendable per manufacturer documentation. Cord geometry: one male plug terminates at the SO-24A end; two female plugs terminate at the digital phone system side — a 1M/2F split configuration. The SO-24A operates on 40V DC battery; confirm the digital phone system's line voltage is within the SO-24A's rated input range before commissioning.
