The StarTech SATPCIEXADAP adapter cable allows you to power a PCI Express (PCIe) graphics card or other PCIe expansion card that requires a 6-pin power connection, by utilizing two available 15-pin SATA power connectors from your system's power supply unit (PSU). This is critical for system builds or upgrades where the PSU lacks the native 6-pin PCIe power outputs required by higher-performance GPUs or other PCIe devices. The 6-inch (152.4 mm) cable length provides sufficient reach in most standard ATX or smaller form factor builds without excessive slack.
This adapter is designed to connect to standard 15-pin SATA power connectors found on most ATX power supplies and to a standard 6-pin PCI Express power connector (PCIe v1.x specification). It is compatible with any PCIe expansion card that specifies a 6-pin power input, including many mid-range to high-end graphics cards and other power-hungry PCIe devices. It is not compatible with 8-pin PCIe power connectors or proprietary power connectors.
