Overview

The StarTech STDHVHDBT is a versatile video extender kit designed to transmit high-resolution video signals, including HDMI, DisplayPort, and VGA, along with audio, over a single Cat5e or Cat6 Ethernet cable. This solution is ideal for extending a laptop or PC's display to a remote monitor in conference rooms, lecture halls, or digital signage deployments where running long, bulky video cables is impractical. The STDHVHDBT supports 4K resolution up to 35 meters (115 feet) and 1080p up to 70 meters (230 feet), ensuring crisp visuals for critical presentations and information displays. It includes both a local transmitter unit and a remote receiver unit, simplifying deployment.

Compatibility

This extender kit supports a wide range of video sources and resolutions. The local unit accepts HDMI, DisplayPort, and VGA inputs, allowing connection to most modern and legacy computers. It is compatible with Cat5e UTP cabling or higher (Cat6, Cat6a, Cat7). The remote unit outputs via HDMI, supporting resolutions up to 4096x2160 (4K) at 30 Hz over shorter distances (up to 35 meters) and 1920x1080 (1080p) at 60 Hz up to the maximum distance of 70 meters (230 feet). It also supports 7.1 surround sound audio pass-through.

Installation Notes

The STDHVHDBT requires a standard Cat5e or Cat6 Ethernet cable for signal transmission. Power is supplied via a 12V DC, 1.5A power adapter (included) to the local unit, which then powers the remote unit through the Ethernet cable (PoE-like functionality). The operating temperature range is 0°C to 40°C (32°F to 104°F), making it suitable for most indoor environments. Ensure proper ventilation around both units.
