Overview

The CWGE24MS2 is a 24-port commercial-grade managed Gigabit switch designed as a backbone for distributed surveillance and security networks. It combines 20 100/1000Base-FX SFP combo ports with 4 dedicated Gigabit FX ports, delivering flexible fiber-copper hybrid architecture without forced port-per-camera constraints. The included power supply (100–240 VAC with 12 VDC battery backup input) supports wall-mount or standard 19-inch rackmount installation. Use this where you're aggregating multiple camera subnets, bridging copper camera feeds to fiber backbone runs, or building redundant ring topologies across warehouse, industrial, or multi-building campuses.

Compatibility

The CWGE24MS2 integrates with any IP camera, NVR, or network device that supports standard Gigabit Ethernet or 100Base-FX SFP modules. Specific compatibility depends on your installed SFP transceiver type (multimode, singlemode, wavelength); verify transceiver specs against your fiber plant before purchase. Works with ONVIF-compliant cameras from Axis, Hikvision, Uniview, Hanwha, Bosch, Pelco, and other vendors. Compatible with Milestone, Genetec, and vendor-agnostic VMS platforms via standard IP routing and VLAN tagging.

Installation Notes

Supports 10K-byte jumbo frames for high-throughput fiber backhaul. Deploy QoS and port mirroring for traffic isolation and forensic packet capture. Configure VLAN groups to segregate camera streams from access-control or intercom traffic—critical for broadcast-heavy surveillance networks. Enable RSTP or ERPS G.8032 ring protection if redundancy is required (loops between multiple switches). SSH and SNMPv3 secure remote management; tacacs+ authentication available. Requires standard RJ-45 twisted-pair for combo port camera connections; SFP slots accept hot-swappable 100/1000Base-FX modules (not included).
