Comelit 316PP Stainless Pedestrian Pedestal
Overview
The Comelit 316PP is a wall-mounted stainless steel pedestal enclosure designed to house access control, intercom, and keypad hardware at entry points. Built from 304-grade stainless steel, it resists corrosion in salt-air, humid, and outdoor-exposed environments — a real advantage over powder-coated steel when you're mounting at service entries or perimeter gates where rust creep will degrade painted finishes within 18–24 months. The pedestal form factor keeps readers and keypads at a consistent height for ergonomic access and ADA-compliant positioning at main entrances and secured gates.
Compatibility
The 316PP integrates with Comelit access control systems, intercom installations, and third-party badge readers and keypads that mount to standard 4-inch electrical box or surface-mount backplates. It is compatible with Comelit's range of video intercom, door release controllers, and credential readers used in apartment complexes, office buildings, and institutional access-control deployments. The pedestal housing accepts standard wiring conduit entries, supporting both hardwired and wireless reader configurations common in commercial access control.
Installation Notes
Mount the 316PP to solid masonry, metal, or reinforced wood framing using corrosion-resistant fasteners (stainless bolts recommended to match the housing material). Drill access for standard ½-inch conduit or cable glands at the base. Allow clearance for conduit bends and wire strain relief behind the mounting surface. Stainless steel pedestal weight requires two-person installation; use a level to ensure vertical alignment for proper door-strike geometry in access-control wiring runs.
