Overview
The Black Box IC560A is a passive video and power transceiver designed to extend both signals over a single Cat5e/6 cable up to 1000 feet. This balun simplifies IP camera installations by allowing you to transmit power to the camera and receive video back to your NVR or DVR over the same twisted pair, eliminating the need for separate power and video runs. It's particularly useful in legacy installations or when running new cable is cost-prohibitive. The IC560A is ideal for extending surveillance systems in commercial buildings, retail spaces, and warehouses.
Compatibility
This balun is compatible with most analog CCTV cameras and IP cameras that accept standard 12V DC power and output composite video or IP data streams. It supports transmission distances up to 1000 feet (305 meters) for both video and power. It is designed to work with standard RJ-45 connectors on both ends, making it a direct replacement for existing balun setups or a straightforward addition to new installations. It is suitable for use with NVRs, DVRs, and video switchers that accept standard video inputs and provide 12V DC power outputs.
Installation Notes
Ensure that the total power draw of the camera does not exceed the capacity of the 12V DC power supply used at the headend. The maximum recommended distance for reliable operation is 1000 feet. Use solid-core Cat5e or Cat6 cable for best performance. Avoid running the cable in parallel with high-voltage AC power lines to minimize interference. The RJ-45 connectors should be terminated according to TIA/EIA-568B standards for optimal signal integrity.
