Overview
The CX-90S-03 is a surface-mount magnetic lock rated for 300 lbs holding force, designed for single-door networked access control installations where you need direct frame-to-door retention without mechanical latching complexity. Surface mounting keeps installation straightforward on retrofit and new-build projects — no mortise work, no relocating existing hardware. It operates on either 12VDC (360mA draw) or 24VDC (180mA draw), selectable via onboard jumpers. This architecture fits access control systems that centralize door release logic through a controller or relay module.
Compatibility
The CX-90S-03 integrates with any networked access control system or door controller that can supply regulated 12 or 24VDC to a solenoid strike. Confirm your controller's voltage output and available amperage before wiring — 360mA at 12V is the maximum draw, so verify your power supply headroom. The unit accepts standard two-wire 12/24VDC power input via terminals; no special protocols or signal conditioning needed. Compatible with both hardwired relays and networked control boards that switch power to the strike coil. Verify the strike's form factor (1-3/8" H × 6-11/16" W × 13/16" D) fits your door frame mounting space before committing.
Installation Notes
Mount the magnet body to the door frame and the supplied armature plate to the door itself using the included hardware, with the door in normally-closed position. The armature plate pivots about its center to compensate for door wear and frame misalignment — tighten mounting screws finger-tight first, verify alignment, then secure fully. Use the supplied template to mark and drill holes accurately. Keep power supply and wiring isolated from ground to avoid shock hazard; test for shorts with an ohmmeter before energizing. Wire the power switch per the included diagram to minimize residual magnetism effects. Always use a UL/CUL-listed regulated power source.
