Overview
The VE-9X20B is a cast aluminum outdoor enclosure built for permanent installation of Viking Electronics communication and security products in harsh outdoor environments. Rated NEMA/EEMAC Type 4, 4X, and 12, this enclosure keeps electronics protected against windblown dust, rain, and corrosion — making it the correct choice when you need weather-tight protection for a Viking intercom, entry system, or emergency phone mounted on an exterior wall, gate post, or standalone pedestal. The black finish and silver "Telephone" door lettering give it a clear, professional appearance in public-facing installations. An interior adapter panel ships included, providing the mounting surface needed to seat Viking products inside without additional fabrication.
Compatibility
Designed specifically for the VE-9x20 series enclosure footprint. Compatible with Viking Electronics products that mount to a standard interior adapter panel — including Viking intercoms, emergency phones, entry systems, and ADA-compliant call boxes in the VE-9x20 product family. The push-button latch (part U213340) is sold separately and fits both the VE-9x12 and VE-9x20 series if a tool-free door release is required. Not compatible with the VE-9x12 series, which uses a polycarbonate/ABS composite construction and a different form factor. For VE-9x12 enclosures, source that series separately.
Installation Notes
Conduit entry is via 1/2" NPT knockouts located at the top and bottom of the enclosure — standard trade-size conduit fittings thread directly in, keeping the wiring path weatherproof without field modifications. The cast aluminum construction adds substantial weight: plan for a rated mounting surface and hardware appropriate for a 17 lb enclosure. NEMA 4X compliance means the housing resists corrosion, so it is suitable for coastal or high-humidity sites where painted steel would degrade. Available in red, yellow, or black — color selection should be made at order time based on site visibility requirements (red/yellow for emergency-designated installations, black for standard commercial deployments).
