Description

APC by Schneider Electric BK500EI UPS

Overview

The APC by Schneider Electric Back-ups CS BK500EI is a standby (offline) Uninterruptible Power Supply designed to protect sensitive electronic equipment from power disturbances. It provides 300 Watts or 500 VA of output power, ensuring critical devices remain operational during short power outages or voltage fluctuations. This unit is suitable for basic workstations, network equipment, or point-of-sale systems where a brief period of battery backup is required. Its compact form factor allows for easy placement on a desk or shelf.

Compatibility

This UPS is designed for general-purpose use with standard AC-powered equipment. It is compatible with devices requiring up to 300W of power draw, including typical desktop computers, monitors, modems, routers, and other low-power peripherals. The 50/60 Hz frequency regulation makes it suitable for use in most regions worldwide. It is not intended for high-draw equipment like laser printers or large server racks, which require higher capacity UPS units.

Installation Notes

The BK500EI operates within an input voltage range of 160V to 300V AC, with automatic frequency detection for 50 Hz or 60 Hz. It features a surge energy rating of 310 Joules, protecting connected devices from damaging voltage spikes via its telephone/DSL/fax/modem surge protection ports. Hold times between 6 ms and 10 ms ensure stable operation during minor power flickers. An efficiency rating of 99% minimizes wasted energy. The unit produces a noise level of approximately 40 dB, comparable to a quiet office environment.
