Overview
The APC Back-UPS CS BK500BLK is a standby Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) designed to protect sensitive electronics from power surges and brief outages. With a 500 VA / 300 W capacity, it provides enough runtime for critical devices during short interruptions, preventing data loss and equipment damage. This tower-form-factor unit is ideal for workstations, network equipment, and other essential peripherals in environments where reliable power is a necessity.
Compatibility
This UPS is compatible with standard AC 120 V input devices. It is suitable for use with typical computer workstations, modems, routers, and other sensitive electronics that require clean power and surge protection. It functions as a buffer against fluctuating input voltages between 98 V and 140 V, outputting a sine wave form to ensure compatibility with sensitive equipment.
Installation Notes
The BK500BLK operates on a 50/60 Hz input frequency and outputs at the same frequency. It features audible alarms for low battery, overload, and when on battery power, providing immediate notification of power status changes. The unit supports hot-swap battery replacement, allowing for continuous operation without downtime by simply swapping out the lead-acid battery when needed. A USB port is included for basic monitoring capabilities.
Power and Surge Protection
With a surge energy rating of 480 Joules, the BK500BLK effectively absorbs and dissipates excess electrical energy, safeguarding connected equipment from damaging voltage spikes. At full load, expect approximately 2.4 minutes of backup time, extending to 13.9 minutes at half load. The internal battery recharges fully within 8 hours.
