Axis Q1941-E Outdoor Long-Range Thermal Fixed Bullet IP Camera

The Axis Q1941-E is a purpose-built thermal imaging camera designed for long-range perimeter security and extensive open-area surveillance. Using uncooled micro bolometer technology, this camera detects heat signatures with exceptional sensitivity, enabling reliable threat detection in complete darkness, fog, smoke, and dust—conditions that defeat traditional visible-light cameras. With a thermal sensor resolution of 384×288 and maximum output resolution of 768×576, the Q1941-E delivers detailed thermal imagery across multiple focal lengths (7mm to 60mm), supporting detection ranges from narrow concentrated surveillance to broad area monitoring.

Key Features

  • Uncooled micro bolometer thermal sensor with <70 mK NETD for precise temperature differentiation
  • Multiple focal length options (7mm, 13mm, 19mm, 35mm, 60mm) with variable frame rates up to 30fps
  • H.264 video compression with Axis Zipstream technology for bandwidth efficiency
  • PoE power delivery (Class 3) with integrated local storage support
  • IP66-rated housing for outdoor durability across -40°C to +60°C operating range
  • Sophisticated video analytics for automated event detection and alerting
  • Active tampering detection and signed firmware for system security
  • Serial connector interface for legacy system integration

Technical Specifications

The Q1941-E operates exclusively in the thermal spectrum, eliminating dependency on visible light. Its uncooled thermal sensor achieves high sensitivity (NETD <70 mK), enabling detection of minute temperature variations critical for early-stage threat identification. The camera supports variable output resolutions and frame rates—including full 30fps at native and upscaled resolutions—optimizing performance for specific deployment scenarios. H.264 compression combined with Zipstream reduces storage and bandwidth demands without compromising image quality, while PoE simplification eliminates complex power infrastructure at remote locations.

Applications

  • Energy and utility infrastructure protection (power plants, substations, pipelines)
  • Transportation security (airports, rail yards, maritime facilities)
  • Border and perimeter defense
  • Industrial facility monitoring and unauthorized access detection
  • High-value asset protection in adverse weather conditions

Durability and Reliability

Built to survive harsh outdoor environments, the Q1941-E carries IP66 certification and operates reliably across extreme temperature ranges. Its robust bullet housing resists environmental stress, while PoE integration reduces field installation complexity and potential failure points associated with traditional power systems.

The Q1941-E represents Axis' commitment to thermal surveillance for mission-critical applications where environmental conditions render conventional cameras ineffective. The combination of uncooled thermal technology with multiple focal lengths creates a flexible platform adaptable to diverse deployment geometries—from focused long-range detection (60mm lens, 6.2° horizontal FOV) to broader perimeter coverage (7mm lens, 55° horizontal FOV). The NETD specification below 70 mK positions this sensor at the sensitivity tier required for detecting concealed personnel and small heat-emitting threats at distance.

Integration of analytics and tampering detection within a thermally-independent imaging system provides security teams with actionable intelligence while protecting system integrity. PoE Class 3 sufficiency and local storage capability make field deployment practical for remote and harsh-environment installations where traditional CCTV infrastructure proves inadequate.
