Overview
The Axis 5801-901 is an 850nm infrared illuminator kit engineered to extend the nighttime surveillance range of Axis T99A positioning units. It pairs semi-covert IR LEDs with an interchangeable lens system, delivering usable illumination out to 500 meters (1640 feet) without visible light — the core requirement when you need to light a scene for a PTZ camera without broadcasting your surveillance footprint. Default configuration (35° lens) reaches 240 meters; swap lenses for narrower focus or wider coverage depending on your deployment geometry.
Compatibility
The 5801-901 mounts directly to Axis T99A 10 Positioning Units and is supplied with the Axis Q8685-LE PTZ Network Camera. The kit's mounting bracket integrates with the T99A's mechanical interface; no adapter or third-party rigging needed. If you are deploying an Axis PTZ in a nighttime perimeter or remote monitoring scenario where ambient light is insufficient, this kit pairs the PTZ's pan-tilt-zoom motion control with dedicated IR illumination.
Installation Notes
The kit includes paired 850nm LED heads, a bracket assembly, and three interchangeable diverging lenses (10°, 35°, 60°, 80°, 120° beam angles). Operating range is −50°C to 60°C (−58°F to 140°F) under normal conditions; maximum intermittent rating to 65°C. Above 50°C, output power reduces 35% — a real constraint in sun-exposed southern or industrial rooftop mounts. IP66 rating protects against direct rain and dust ingress. Mount the bracket to the T99A's IR accessory port; the lenses screw into the illuminator heads with no tools required. Verify that your positioning unit firmware supports IR accessory control if you intend to synchronize illumination with PTZ movement.
