Overview
Axis D2110-VE 24GHz Security Radar
The Axis D2110-VE is a phased array FMCW radar designed for large-area outdoor surveillance where traditional cameras fall short. Operating at 24.05–24.25 GHz with license-free, low-power transmission, this radar delivers 24/7 detection regardless of lighting, weather, or visibility conditions. Its advanced motion detection and object classification capabilities make it ideal for critical infrastructure, perimeter security, and traffic monitoring applications.
Key Features
- 180° horizontal field of detection with dual monitoring profiles for area and road surveillance
- Detects and classifies humans, vehicles, and unknown objects with range, direction, velocity, and type data
- Area monitoring: 3–60 m (person) / 3–85 m (vehicle); Road monitoring: 30–60 m at 105 km/h
- ±2 km/h speed accuracy and 0.7 m distance accuracy with 10 Hz data refresh rate
- Advanced radar controls: multiple detection zones, line crossing detection, exclude zones, and adaptive filters
- IP66-rated aluminum/plastic casing rated for NEMA 4X and IK08 impact resistance
- Operates reliably from -40°C to 60°C with 10–100% RH tolerance
Technical Highlights
The D2110-VE integrates a 1024 MB RAM processor with ARTPEC-7 architecture, enabling real-time radar motion detection and autotracking capabilities. It streams radar data at 10 Hz refresh rate and supports integrated video streaming up to 1080p HDTV at 10 fps across multiple configurable streams in H.264, H.265, and Motion JPEG formats. Network connectivity includes IPv4/v6, HTTPS/TLS, MQTT, and ONVIF® Profile G, S, T, and M compliance for seamless integration with existing security ecosystems.
Security features include signed firmware, brute-force delay protection, IEEE 802.1X/802.1AE support, and OAuth 2.0 for centralized account management. The device supports edge storage via microSD/SDXC encryption (AES-XTS-Plain64 256-bit) and provides relay activation, FTP/SFTP file upload, and pre/post-alarm buffering for comprehensive event logging.
Applications
- Perimeter security and intrusion detection at critical infrastructure
- Road monitoring and traffic speed enforcement
- Industrial facility area surveillance
- Smart camera autotracking integration via AXIS Radar Autotracking for PTZ
- Third-party application support via AXIS Camera Application Platform (ACAP)

The D2110-VE addresses fundamental limitations of optical surveillance in outdoor perimeter defense. Its phased array FMCW architecture eliminates weather, lighting, and obscuration challenges that degrade camera-based detection. With up to 85 m vehicle range and 60 m person detection in area mode, the sensor provides coverage of 11,300 m² for vehicles and 5,600 m² for persons—equivalent to 4–6 traditional wide-angle camera installations.
The dual-profile design accommodates both stationary area monitoring and mobile traffic applications. Speed accuracy of ±2 km/h enables traffic enforcement compliance, while 0.7 m distance resolution supports precise object tracking. Up to six coexisting radars within 350 m radius maintain interference-free operation in multi-unit deployments.
Integration depth is enterprise-grade: ONVIF compliance, MQTT publish/subscribe, and ACAP support enable integration into any modern VMS or custom automation platform. The 5-year warranty and -40°C operating range underscore design robustness for harsh outdoor installations.
