Overview

The SMAX-0246 is a heavy-duty wall mount that converts a standard electrical gang box into a mounting point for compatible ACTi outdoor dome cameras. It solves the common retrofit problem of running conduit and power into an existing junction box location without exposed surface wiring — the converter bridges the gang box opening to the dome's mounting base and routes cabling internally. White housing matches typical ceiling and wall trim colors for a finished look on storefronts, corridors, and covered exterior walls.

Compatibility

Built specifically for ACTi outdoor dome cameras, excluding mini dome models. Use in combination with the PMAX-0807 and PMAX-0314 mounting components — the SMAX-0246 is engineered to pair with both as part of a complete wall-mount assembly rather than as a standalone bracket. Confirm your specific dome model isn't a mini-dome variant before ordering, since those use a different mount interface.

Installation Notes

Rated for indoor use, so keep it inside covered entries, corridors, or vestibules rather than fully exposed exterior walls unless paired with additional weatherproofing at the gang box. At 12.1 lb, this is a substantial mount — anchor into the gang box and wall studs rather than drywall alone to support the combined weight of the converter and dome camera long-term. The PoE-compatible design keeps cabling to a single Ethernet run through the converter body, avoiding a separate low-voltage power drop at the mount location.
