Description

Hanwha NOP-RI2MS Reader Interface Expansion Panel

The Hanwha NOP-RI2MS is a downstream reader-interface expansion panel purpose-built for NOP Series IC controller systems. This enclosure-mount device extends access control infrastructure by distributing reader connectivity and I/O across multiple security zones, making it ideal for multi-door facilities, campuses, and distributed credential processing environments. Designed for integrators and facility managers, the NOP-RI2MS combines encrypted communication, supervised alarm monitoring, and relay control in a compact, field-installable form factor.

Key Features

  • Dual Wiegand/OSDP reader ports with support for up to 2 OSDP readers per port
  • 6 supervised alarm inputs with hardware and software filtering to eliminate false alarms
  • 2 unsupervised inputs for cabinet tamper and power failure detection
  • 4 Form-C relay outputs rated 2A @ 30VDC for door strikes and access mechanisms
  • RS485 serial communication with multi-drop support for up to 16 boards on a single bus
  • Open-collector buzzer output with 2-wire LED support option
  • DIP switch configuration for serial communication and hardware interface setup

Security & Encryption

Enterprise-grade security is embedded throughout the NOP-RI2MS. AES 128/256 encryption with SHA256 hashing protects all data in transit and at rest. OSDP Secure Channel with custom key support ensures credential reader communication meets the latest OSDP v3 standards. Secure boot capability prevents unauthorized firmware modification, critical for access control integrity in regulated environments.

Power & Environmental Specifications

  • 12VDC input; 190mA typical, 2.19A maximum full load current
  • Fuse-protected auxiliary power output (1A max) and dedicated reader port power (500mA max per port)
  • Operating temperature range: -40°C to +80°C, suitable for indoor and protected outdoor installations

Applications

The NOP-RI2MS excels in multi-reader deployments including corporate campuses, healthcare facilities, government buildings, and industrial complexes. Supervised alarm inputs enable integration with door sensors, motion detectors, and cabinet monitoring. Relay outputs control electric locks, door strikes, and audible alarms. The panel's compact enclosure-mount design fits standard DIN rail installations and integrates seamlessly into existing NOP Series architectures.

Perspective based on aggregated IP Security Depot and affiliated engineering team experience.

The NOP-RI2MS addresses a critical pain point in distributed access control: extending reader and I/O capacity without deploying additional main controllers. The dual-port OSDP support is significant—OSDP readers offer superior security and diagnostics compared to legacy Wiegand-only devices, and this panel's ability to daisy-chain up to 16 boards on a single RS485 bus dramatically reduces wiring complexity in large facilities. The supervised alarm inputs with filtering are a professional-grade feature that prevents nuisance alerts from RF interference or cable noise, reducing false alarm response costs.

AES 256 encryption and secure boot align with NIST and CISA recommendations for critical infrastructure access control. Power budgeting is tight (2.19A max), so planners must account for reader current draw per port and auxiliary loads, but the 500mA per-port allocation handles most standard OSDP readers. Temperature range and fuse protection indicate rugged design suitable for harsh environments.
