Description

Comnet CTS8EOC 8-Channel CopperLine Managed Switch

The Comnet CTS8EOC is an 8-channel managed transmission module designed to extend analog or digital surveillance signals over existing coaxial cable infrastructure without requiring full re-cabling. It bridges 8 channels of Ethernet (10/100 Mbps) with 8 channels of CopperLine coaxial transmission on one side and 8 channels of UTP CopperLine on the other, plus optional 100 Mbps single-mode fiber (SFP) uplinks for longer distances or isolation.

Overview

Deploy this module when you're integrating legacy coax-based camera runs into a modern IP surveillance backbone, or when fiber uplinks are needed for site-to-site linking. The CTS8EOC handles bandwidth allocation across channels without congestion—critical in dense camera deployments where multiple streams share the same physical medium. Managed features (QoS, VLAN, port mirroring, rapid spanning tree) let you prioritize live-view and archival traffic separately, preventing dropped frames during peak recording or export operations.

Compatibility

The CTS8EOC integrates with existing Comnet CopperLine transmission infrastructure—any installation already using Comnet balun modules, extender cards, or fiber transmission systems can absorb this switch as a central aggregation point. It's protocol-agnostic on the Ethernet side (supports standard IP surveillance gear: ONVIF cameras, NVRs, encoders) and works with legacy analog CCTV infrastructure on the coax and UTP ports via appropriate balun adapters. Verify your existing coax or UTP balun modules are Comnet CopperLine compatible before ordering.

Installation Notes

This is a rackmount module—mount in a 19-inch enclosure with standard rail hardware. Coaxial and UTP ports terminate to BNC connectors; use quality 75-ohm coax for all cable runs to avoid impedance mismatch and signal degradation. Optional 100 Mbps SFP uplinks are single-mode fiber only—multimode SFP modules will not function. Managed configuration requires network access (telnet, SNMP); assign a static IP or DHCP reservation during provisioning. No external power supply is listed in evidence; confirm power delivery method before installation.
