A 12-inch steel lanyard reinforces the cable at its most vulnerable point — the handset end — while armored construction along the full run resists cutting and repeated mechanical stress. The 5-inch (127 mm) splitter is sized to reach the handset jack on nearly any digital phone without requiring panel modification.
