Description

Geovision 72-HD4TB-302 4TB Surveillance Hard Drive

Overview

The Geovision 72-HD4TB-302 is a 4TB surveillance-grade SATA II hard drive built for continuous 24/7 recording in DVR and NVR systems. This drive handles the thermal and mechanical demands of non-stop video streaming without the performance throttling you'd see in consumer desktop drives. Capacity of 4TB delivers roughly 60–90 days of storage for a single-camera 24/7 H.264 feed at typical resolution and bitrate — meaningful for smaller deployments that need archival without daily overwrite cycles.

Compatibility

The 72-HD4TB-302 is designed for Geovision surveillance recorders and compatible with any standard DVR or NVR accepting 3.5-inch SATA II drives. Verify your system's drive bay count, power connector type (standard SATA power), and any firmware requirements before installation. Check your recorder's HDD compatibility list or consult pre-sales engineering if your system specifies particular drive models or firmware revisions.

Installation Notes

Install the drive in a powered-off recorder. Secure the drive to the bay using the included mounting bracket or system-supplied hardware. Connect both SATA data and SATA power connectors. Power on the recorder and allow the drive to initialize and format through the system's storage management interface — do not force manual partitioning unless your VMS documentation specifically requires it. Ensure adequate airflow around the drive bay; prolonged operation above 50°C can reduce lifespan. For multi-camera continuous recording, stack multiple drives across available bays rather than relying on a single large capacity for redundancy.
